In 2010 B & C Kennels was granted a special use permit to allow 40 dogs on their property. In 2016 they sold 535 puppies. They've been violating the special use permit for years. It was brought to DeKalb County's attention in 2016 and B & C then asked for a special use permit allowing even more dogs on their property.

The next Planning & Zoning meeting in DeKalb will be on May 24th at 6:30. If they approve the increase in the number of dogs it will then go on to the County Board for the final decision.

UPDATE: At the DeKalb county meeting they stated there was something wrong with the wording in the ordinance, so no vote yet. The next full board meeting is scheduled for sometime in August and will update when the date is available.  UPDATE: DeKalb county is allowing B&C to import dogs from Angela Shubert's puppy mill. They should be ashamed of themselves.

At the same time, they asked for another special use permit in Ogle County. The Zoning Department DENIED their request.  It now goes before the County Board for approval.

UPDATE: Ogle county DENIED their request to open the kennel. The vote was 21 -0. Thank you Ogle county!

In March 2014 Angela Shubert was cited with three violations:

1st. Violation:  This facility was performing dewclaw removal and tail
docking procedures with no program of veterinary care.
2nd Violation:  Adult dogs were not microchipped.
3rd.Violation: Puppies feet were falling through the cage floors.
At this inspection she had 504 dogs and 217 puppies.

In July 2015 Angela was cited with two violations:

1st. Violation:  She was using chicken medicine on the sick dogs.
2nd. Violation:  The dogs did not have enough room in the cages to turn
around.
At this inspection she had 496 dogs and 270 puppies.

B & C Kennels have also been fined $1000.00 by the Illinois Department Of Agriculture for not vaccinating the dogs for Canine Brucellosis.

B&C is also shipping dogs sight unseen without a USDA license.

We are encouraging the DeKalb and Ogle County residents to please contact the Ogle and DeKalb county board asking them NOT to support puppy mills in their counties. Please email, and or call them. Their contact info is here:
